iPhone MVP: iPhone 3GS HD Coming Soon?

I think being able to play 720p or 1080p is only part of the picture. How long can we expect the battery to last on an iPhone pumping out HD video? Will it even last for an entire 2 hour movie?

Paint allows me to draw pictures on a canvas but that doesn't make it a replacement for Photoshop.

In order for the iPones to be able to process full HD resolutions they will have to use the tegra chipset. The Tegra has eight processors, two are ARM processors, one an ARM11 the other an ARM7. Both ARM cores are duel core. It then has a separate processor for HD video out, 2D processing, 3D processing (GPU), and audio. While the ARM11 CPU is not as powerful as the Cortex A8 the Tegra chipset as a whole is leaps and bounds more powerful graphically and more powerful in calculations than the iPhone A8+SGX chipset. As for CPU processing power the A8 is more powerful than the ARM11, however the Tegra uses two processors (the ARM7 runs the OS) and that not only gives it more power but gives it the ability to do more things more efficiently than the A8 by itself and do so on much less power consumption.

We will have to wait and see if Apple with use the Tegra or Tegra II in their upcoming product line for 2010/11.

It would be pointless to output the 720p or 1080p video to the tiny iPhone screen. This is obviously so that one could output the HD video to their HDTV, which you would obviously be in a position to charge the phone at the same time. Therefore, battery life is irrelevant.
